About Huron Helping Hands Food Pantry
Serving Our Community Since 1996
For nearly 30 years, we've been helping our neighbors put food on the table โ one family at a time.
Our Story
Huron Helping Hands Food Pantry was established in 1996 as an ecumenical Christian ministry dedicated to serving our community's most vulnerable members. What began as a small effort to help families in need has grown into a vital resource for hundreds of households throughout Huron, Berlin Heights, and the surrounding 44839 zip code area.
Our pantry operates through the dedication of volunteers who believe that no one in our community should go hungry. We're not just about providing food โ we're about providing hope, dignity, and the assurance that neighbors care for neighbors.
What We Provide
We offer a variety of essential items to help families stretch their budgets and maintain healthy diets:

Our Partners
Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio
We're proud to be a partner agency of Second Harvest Food Bank, which serves Crawford, Erie, Huron, and Lorain counties. As part of their network of over 130 partner charities, we benefit from their resources, training, and food distribution programs. Second Harvest distributes nearly 14 million pounds of food annually, and our partnership allows us to serve more families more effectively.
Meijer Simply Give Program
We participate in Meijer's Simply Give program, which allows customers to purchase $10 donation cards at checkout. These cards are converted into Meijer food-only gift cards and donated directly to our pantry. Since 2008, the Simply Give program has generated over $100 million for food pantries across the Midwest โ and your local purchases help stock our shelves.
Our Values
Dignity & Respect
Everyone who comes through our doors is treated with kindness and without judgment.
Community First
We're neighbors helping neighbors โ that's the heart of what we do.
Faith in Action
Our ministry is rooted in the belief that caring for others is our calling.
Hope
We believe that temporary hardship doesn't define anyone โ and we're here to help.
